Greetings All,
When cleaning my fireplace insert tonight, I noticed a tremendous number of odd clumps. I've seen these on occasion but today the ash bucket was FILLED with these things.
It's not charred wood. The clumps are light and porous, similar to pumice. Has a hard texture like rock when struck against metal or glass. Does not dissolve in water and is not magnetic.
Any clues to what process in a fireplace produced this?
I have a new wood supplier this year. Is this wood related?
