These have become my favorite pellet!
The earlier pellet stove they proved to be the best I could burn.
In the new Girl, she likes them as well!
Yes, I treat my stove as I would a good woman.
Give her all the attention she requires!
The effort pays off.

My question to you all is between the Gold and the Fir.

Heat production is close to the same for me.
Having run only one ton of Fir (hard to come by), I'm not decided between the two.

Are you finding you have to adjust your air between the two?
Is a darker soot on the glass for the Fir an air adjustment?
Or is it just the Fir?

I just did a cleaning so I can truly see the difference between the two.. I hope..

What do you folks think about the two?
Which do you prefer?

I plan to only get Softwoods for next season...
kinda stuck on Okie firs or the Okie platinums.

The DF's are great pellets but they get too much money for them. And they do leave a little darker ash but much less of it.

Given a choice between Platinum, LaCrete and Fireside Ultra ( this years FSU) I'll take the FSU because they are two to three bucks a bag cheaper and burn in the same neighborhood as the others. Close enough I don't need to pay for the little bit of difference. Now two years ago FSU sucked, none of this is to say that won't reoccur..

My dealer sells the Okie line and LaCretes... per chance HD sometimes carries FSU's but haven't seen for 2 seasons now....
they must have over 50 skids of chows and Nations choice at my HD here for 199..

good price but I really don't want to deal with the excessive ash anymore from HD stuff...
as long as I can afford to pay a bit more for better stuff . I will..
had them drop off 100 gallons Oil yesterday... last Oil drop was August..
Tank only took 91 gallons so that's what we used for Hot water over past 5-6 months..

Actually they didn't burn all that bad, not too bad on ash, had worse etc. Not the heat of some others but it was still shoulder season so it didn't matter.

I've never run Okanagan Gold, but I have run DF pellets, and in my opinion, you should always tweak your air, if you plan to run a large amount of different pellets. When I ran df Blazers last year, the soot on the glass was a very light gray, just like the ash. I would think you need a little more air.

the GS prob burn somewhat better in a Harman I assume.

This is my first year with a Wiseway Stove. It was designed to ideally burn DF pellets. I picked up three ton of Okie DF and two ton of Okie Platinum (spruce). I appreciate the DF's but will probably buy more of the Platinums than DF's next year. Both are really great quality and I'm fortunate to have a couple of nearby dealers. I don't have anyone nearby offering any of the other premium softwood pellets I hear mentioned so I guess I'll continue with the Okie's, especially since my experience has been so positive.

I find little heat production difference between the Gold & DR's, Platinum's I haven't seen in my area.
Due to the darker color of the DR's I did expect that to transfer to the glass and see darker streaks.
The Gold's have always been a lighter color ash, but a lighter color pellet as well.

I haven't gone far enough into the burn of the Gold's to see the ash collection difference.
To be honest, I just forget how much from previous burns.
Only 1 week into the switch over...

I couldn't believe how full the pan was...
It was barely full, like why am I doing this kinda full, with the DR's.
Gold's... Why did I wait so long..

I've made my choice between the two.
Still have no idea what the platinum's do..
Haven't seen them yet in our area.

Next year I'm stocking DR's and adjusting a bit.

If there's that much less in the pan, then I have to think there's that much less blowing through the system.

I bought a ton of Okie Platinums recently and they are my new favorite pellet. I'm with Tonyray in no longer burning cheap junk. Being I burn 24/7, the extra ash is too much of a pain. My Platinums are extremely 'blonde' in color and extremely low ash.
