Old stove has to go...

We have an older wood burning stove which has broken parts and needs to be replaced. The area the old stove sits in is 42" wide and 26" deep. In the front of that area is nearly 2' of brick. Our home is 2450 sq ft, but we like to sleep cool so figure 1500sq ft of warming would be acceptable. There is no electrical outlet in this area. What brand/model would you suggest for us?

Is that alcove solid masonry or just a layer of brick in front of framed walls?

I've been burning my Timberland 30-NC for 12 years now and I love it. Lots of stove for the money and reliable as a Timex watch.

If that is a solid masonry alcove (not just 1 brick thick over a stud wall), then a medium sized ~2 cu ft stove like the Quadrafire 3100 Millenium or the PE Super would do the job well. The Quad has closer clearances and can go in, even if the brick is one layer thick.

What parts are needed for the old stove? It might be worth fixing if nothing serious.

It's a good workhorse, but serious overkill for this So. Cal. location.

It feels like solid brick all around the alcove. Outside I see stucco, so don't know if the brick goes all the way up inside...

How much room do you have behind your stove? There is about 2" on our old one right now.

It's looking quit rough, IMO. See pics... front, inside, and inside top.

Well, we've seen a lot worse and parts may be very hard to get. For sure, a modern Quadrafire stove will burn cleaner. Check out the 3100 Millenium.
Note that the big issue right now is going to be finding a stove. Due to supply issues and high steel prices, inventory is low.

It is very important that you figure that out. It will determine what you can do in that space

Well, we've seen a lot worse and parts may be very hard to get. For sure, a modern Quadrafire stove will burn cleaner. Check out the 3100 Millenium.
Note that the big issue right now is going to be finding a stove. Due to supply issues and high steel prices, inventory is low.

It is pushed back into the fire place which has a heatalator interior. About 4" of rear clearance
