older regency i2400 i believe

I am putting together and older regency and on the left side is a metal lever that somehow hits a cutoff fan switch. The fan only runs when the switch is pushed in. I cannot figure out how to put the metal lever on though. I think that it has something to do with the damper control because it is on that side and there is a metal plate attached to the damper bar. I can get pics up later but I hope someone knows about this or has an older diagram.

Did you confirm the model number by looking at the rating plate under the ash lip?
That will tell you the manufacture date as well. I don't remember the I2400M having
a feature like that, & the previous design, the I2100, didn't have a feature like that either...

Thanks guys, I was busy all day. I will try to upload some shots tomorrow. The labels have all been worn off under the lip and I really have no idea if it is a i2400 but it seems to fit the specs. I was wrong on the switch, it turns the fan OFF when the damper is pushed all the way in. I think I understand how it works now.
When you close the damper all the way it shuts the fan down so that it doesn't run all night long. (maybe?)

Very interesting. Although I just suggested putting a fan switch on the stove door this is the first time I've seen one on a wood stove. I looked at the blower schematic on the new I2400 and this switch does not show in the circuit. Does the switch and the lever appear to be factory installed? Where is this closeup shot located on the stove? Lower left?

Based on the schematic it looks like you could jumper this switch to remove it from the circuit. Then just turn the fan down or off when reloading.

Your picture does look like my I2400 Regency. FYI, there are two switches on the left side, neither which are controlled by the damper. The top one is High, Off, and Low. The bottom switch is Auto and Manual. If you pry the fan asm off you can readily see the wiring and there should be a snap switch that senses temperature and shuts the fan off when it cools down (unless its on manual). If its there make sure it is in contact with the body of the stove and sensing temperature. Pretty common problem with these stoves is the fan asm not pushed in all the way and the temp disk not working.

The switch is on the lower left. When the damper is pushed all the way in it closes the switch and shuts off the fan. There are also a manual and auto switch on that side as well as a high and low. There is a thermal switch on the right side too. Not sure anything about this though.

That switching mechanism is an after thought & not OEM. Somebody got creative & added the screw & the lever to the primary air control arm.
If anything, that arm should turn the blower unit OFF when the primary air is shut down.

From the I2400M Manual:

Fan Operation
The fan is to be operated only with the draft control rod
pulled out at least 1/2" from the fully closed position.

The fan is not to be operated when the draft control rod is in the closed
position (pushed in). The fully closed position in the low burn setting.

Thanks, it does seem to work though, may keep it in place just because.
Now any hints on polishing the gold trim on the door? Started with a dremel but i think it is too aggresive.
