O'Malley Pellets does anyone have experience with them?

I live on eastern shore of Maryland. I see a local dealer has omalleys for 235 a ton. How good of a pellet are they? I currently have been burning C&C Smith pellets. My stove seems to like them. My stove did not like green label Ligs. Thanks for the input. Alot of suppliers around here carry Lignetics and a few carry C& C.

we've sold them......like many pellets, some love 'em, some dont....my suggestion, as always, would be to try 5 or 10 bags before you commit to the "big buy".....

Burned a couple of ton of 'em last winter. They were OK..Make a bit of course ash, but most hardwoods do in my stoves. I'd burn them again. I agree you ought to try a few bags first."Try before a buy" is a good policy for pellets, as so many good folks state here.

I don't live far from the mill and they sell them direct for $198/ton. but I can get Hardwood heat, green label ligs, and AWF for $200/ton and I prefer them over O'malleys.

Where are you buying pellets for 200 a ton? I'm very close to Tappahannock but the only other choice I have is TSC in Warsaw and they are out of pellets.

I had a very bad time with them last year for a different reason. I bought 2 ton and out of 100 bags 40 of them had bad seals on them. It took forever to get them moved into the house. I sent photo's to Matt O'mally and all he kept saying was that he would get back to me.....................well he did not and left me stuck with his mess. Just sayin..... First and LAST time for me.

I didn't find them to be all that great. They don't seem to put out enough heat. Not bad if you can get them cheap enough.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, you should check out Potomac pellets. The mill is in kinsale. I talked to them a while back and they were selling for $175/ton. They just filled chapter 11 bankruptcy though. It's a shame, it's a really good pellet. Hopefully they can get things worked out. There may be some deals to be had?

You gotta be kiddin! Is that the bag price? Check their web site for a coupon acehardwareand hearth.com. I have a valpak mailer coupon expires march 15 for o'malley's at $209/ton or 6.49/bag. I got a ton of Hammers for $238 yesterday; passed on the o'malleys cause I haven't tried them.

No. The bag price was 5.99 per bag. So i figured 300 for the ton. Is there a hundred dollar difference if you get a ton?

Haven't tried them myself but have seen them burn in a seed & feed store here...LOTS of ash...claimed they keep the stove cleaned Don't want to try them as I've read too many 'not so good' reviews here as well as my stove guy didn't have a very good personal review of them..however one place I called did offer me a FREE bag to try them For those of you looking for them...Cato Oil, Johnson Feed & Seed - both located in Salisbury, MD carry them...last I heard for $235/ton or $5.00/bag. If you Google O'Malley wood pellets you'll find a website with phone number that I believe is located in Delmar, DE that carries them. Personally I like the AWF...VERY NICE heat output, low ash and VERY LITTLE fines I get them from Farmers & Planters @ $4.60/bag...still kicking my butt that I hadn't tried the AWF when HD had them for $3.97/bag or $197/ton early on in the season

Agree with the general consensus, they're "ok" for a shoulder, decent amount of ash in my Enviro.

www.woodfloorsplus.com sells them too off the Baltimore beltway. Think they were $189/ton last summer there when I split a ton with a friend.

Way better than the Power Pellets they sell for the same price. Those will barely stay lit and blow like saw dust!

Good tip on Ace in Edgewater, do they deliver?

I've run by the Edgewater store several times this winter. They stock hamers, lignetics green and omalley. The hamers are the most expensive at normal price of $248/ton

If these pellets are produced by the same O'malley, as in the Maryland Governor? They are lousy! Stay away. Stay far away........ :lol:
