Newfields NH
Records falling everywhere here in New England this year! Brady, Moss, Patriots..Congrats!! Boston Ma needs 1.5" additional snow for the all time snowiest December. Concord NH needs about 7" for the snowiest December ever going back to the 1860's. Northeast looks to be in for an additional 4-8 tonight and tomorrow. Then likely to be an additional 4-8, especially in Northern New England and Down East Maine on New Year's day and Tuesday night. I know snow isn't the same challenge for us wood burners as downright cold is, (should be quite cold Wed and Thurs this week, then warming to above normal here in the East for much of next week) but it sure makes it seem wintery. Glad I built my woodshed this year cause it's a PITA clearing all the snow day after day off my wood piles. 35.5" so far this month here in Newfields NH with measurable snow on 10 different days. The pictures of our house and the woodshed were taken on December 20, 2007, the last day of fall, 23" on the ground! Hmm...wonder what winter will be like?? :-)

JP,

You have a very nice looking home, and a nice looking woodshed.

Bob

Great Pics! Thanks for the weather update :) It's great to hear you're getting so much snow, what a fantastic thing for the northeast for sure. I spent some time in New Hampshire vacationing a few years back, in my opinion one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. I was even in Dixville Notch :) Hiked a 10 mile stretch of the AT, canoed on the Saco, been up Mt. Washington a couple times. Lucky you.......

One snow event of 4 inches here in Gettysburg, but we've been getting a whole bunch of needed rain.

Thank you Bob! The house is "charming" and a great home set up for a wood stove but could have been much better built. The location and the piece of property that the house is on can't be beat! It's very private, a bit remote, surrounded by woods on steeply rolling terminal morrain hill. No room for new construction around us. Back border of our property is connected to about 500-600 contiguous acres of protected wildlife zone. Its beautiful everytime of year (except March, LOL) and yet centrally located in the heart of the bustling Seacoast area of NH, 6 miles to UNH, 4 mile to Exeter where Phillips Exeter Academy is, 12 miles to the beach and Portsmouth NH, 3 miles to the highway to Boston, (an hour), Manchester NH (40 minutes), the White Mountains (90 minutes) We love it.

Great year to come to New England for skiing!

I'll bet that Keystone is really a welcome sight after a day of shoveling. The snow looks picture perfect.

We're getting 16 and 20 inch snowfalls almost every night. Well, up in the mountains that is. Fortunately for us, it's just cold and wet down here. But the ski resorts are smiling a lot this year out here too.

That Pats game was insane! My throat is sore form yelling at the TV.
Now that I have my stove doors all set I am waiting for some good cold here.
What a difference an adjustment makes.
I have just been doing one nice hot fire in the AM & one in the PM it's been keeping the whole house cozy.
I need to get of my butt & get ready for the upcoming cold front heading in & bring in some wood.
While the BF is still here I am putting him to work to do some splitting ;)

An epic game to finish an epic season. One of the classic games in history. Eli and the Giants played great, as did Freeny and the Eagles several weeks ago, the Ravens etc. Being an avid Patriots fan, they have played many great games this season. Now the play offs! Yeah baby!!! Oh yeah, glad the Upland is back to its good warming self. Stay warm!

Nice place jpl. It's been snowy and cold here as well. Last year at this time there was hardly any snow.

I'm not a NE fan as is anyone else in these parts. There would be nothing better than to see the Pack beat the Pats in the Superbowl and ruin their perfect season.

Favre is my second favorite quaterback!! I'd love to see that Super Bowl match up.

And, as luck would have it, you're probably only 20 minutes to Water Country. How do their cheesey ads go - "Have some fun!"?

Congrats to the Pats. I'm not bragging here, but I'd say I'm the biggest Patriots fan in all of the French Alps. I just wish I could watch a game or two. Snowfall for the year looks promising there, as well as here. I know many lakes in Maine have frozen early. Lets not repeat last year's warm January, near 1.5 degrees hotter than usual.

I would also love to see a Pats/Packers superbowl. As much as I am a rabid Pats fan, Farve and the Packers would be my next choice. That would be such a fun matchup to see.

I didn't realize you guys had that much snow up there. We're still pretty much in bare grass in coastal CT. Good wood burning year so far though. I love your wood shed.

Do any of you guys go to the playoff games? Is there potential for a tail gate party here?

Got to love New Hampshire. Great place you have and it is a nice wood shed, We have had at least that much snow here also and looks like a nice few storms coming. To bad we had to have all that rain a week or so ago sure settled the snow down some but will make for a great base on the snowmobil trails for this stuff coming.

Deering NH? Is that between East Deering and West Deering? ;-P That's a beautiful part of the state!

Technically I am in East Deering , and yes it is very pretty around here. I grew up in Antrim where
CmonSTART is posting from.

Not snowing here yet but I know it's knockin on our doorstep..

And it’s snowing here now! woo hoooo!
Just started here within last minute or two! And Tuesday night is looking juicy for snow as well. Yee Haw!

Hadn't started snowing when I went to bed , this morning there is a good solid 10 inches on the deck and still coming down at a good rate. Tuesday's snow is looking like about the same amount

Our 3-6 sure looks like 9+ and still coming down. I lost the bead on one of my blower's tires this morning. Fun, Fun! Fun! The plow hasn't been down the road yet either.

Matt
