Hello all.
I was having problems with my Opel 2 installation and they will be coming in today to fix what wasn't done properly.
I suppose one can say that my confidence towards the people that installed my Opel 2 has diminished to closed to zilch so I was wondering if anyone here can give me some pointers fro the following problems that I believe I have.
1. The Home Hardware manager told me that I couldn't install the fan on top of the fireplace (it's the kit that has a fan that brings hot air to the rooms above). I had allocated space beside the insert to build a box that would incorporate a space of about 14 inches to store wood. They ended up installing the pipe through there. The home hardware manager siad that he contacted the company (RSF) and they said that they could not install it on the top of the unit (where I wanted it in order to keep the box clear and finish it to store wood) because "it will get too hot." I will be calling RSF today to make sure he's not pulling my leg ( I just don't trust them any more).
Anyone have an opinion on this?
2. The box was built from the outside. My roof comes down to the first floor of my 2 story house almost vertically. There is a draft in the box. I'm sure there should not be a draft in the box because it's insulated all the way to the chimney. After some visual inspection, I noticed that there is foam on one side and none on the other. Where the chimney meets the roof, there is no flashing or cocking. I was told that I was respnsible to finish the outside of the chimney, but shouldn't there be flashing so that water won't leak into the house? I can finish it til the cows come home, but if there is no flashing, water will leak into the roof and into the house. Hasn't rained much yet, but I don't wish to find out the hard way.
Thank you for any hel you can provide me
