Always wondered why West Coast trees are significantly less expense than East Coast trees. They have Douglas Fir and we have Pine and Douglas Fir pellets are supposed to be the bomb yet our East Coast pellets seem to cost more based on price reports we see.

I think it's supply and demand. West Coast is covered in forests but not as many people as East Coast.
Plus it would cost a bunch to ship a ton of pellets from here to there. Do they sell Bear Mountain there?

I think it's more supply and demand of pellet users. There's comparatively very few of us on the west coast compared to the east or Midwest. There's not as many people out here on oil heat either, natural gas is pretty prevalent. And our winters tend to not be anywhere near as extreme.
