Well, I pondered this for a good while, but decided to buy the DR 6 Ton splitter with all the goodies. Think it will be big enough to do the job. If I get something too narley, I'll take it down to the bbq joint and split it on the big splitter down there. Plus I can take this smaller one to my cabin and split the wood for my stove up there. Will let you guys know how I like the DR, if you're interested. They said it would take about 10 days for delivery.

They make that right down the street from me - literally. Hope you like it. They have a factory store that's awesome - plan on a visit if you're ever out this way.

Now that's really cool. It would be great to see their factory store. Heck, it would be great to see Vermont! One of my friends in the mountains (lives near my cabin) has a DR weed eater on big wheels. That's one aggressive machine. He keeps my cabin property neat and clean in no time at all. I trade him out a smoked brisket, some pulled pork, or a few slabs of ribs for his efforts.

Is that splitter electric?

I looked into them a while ago and it was at the time a little to much for me.

Anxious to see how you like it. What is the cost of one of those?

They are on sale for $600...$150 off list. I really like the "one hand" operation opposed to a lot of the other smaller electric splitters (two hand operation), plus the accessories that DR offers. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I've been out of town for a few days. It is suppose to arrive this coming Thursday or Friday. Will let you know how I like it after I use it a bit. I have some hardwood and softwood to run through it. Some of the hardwood is notty and a little ugly. Should be a good test.
