Thanks, Im sure we will have tons of questions. My grandpa passed away before I was able to play with matches lol... so I really dont know a thing about this, although my husband does a bit, but Im sure there will be plenty of questions. We want to have a fire to see, but to be honest I hate the heat... so Im sure we will be opening some windows. If you decide thats the right size for you, its your standard type non-cat EPA certified stove with secondary burn up in the top of the stove. We can help you on this board on how to operate it.
Its a little different than than your grandpa's old fashioned stove but once you get the hang if it its easy to operate these newer type stoves.
You have to have good dry wood and it makes things alot easier, if you buy sub par wood its a pain to operate.
Do you already have an existing chimney? Rough idea of how you will vent the stove?
Start aquiring wood ; )

How well insulated is that front porch?
pattydog,
I sorta regret putting our wood stove on our porch....it "helps" with the heating bill but not to the extent I would like it to.
If there's any way possible to get it into the house....
....but no matter where you put it...it'll be delightful on a cold day to sit in front of it, enjoy watching the flames and
have a cup of favorite brew!
I agree you would be much better off if you could put it in the home.
The sad thing is, there really isnt anyplace to put it inside. But we are ok with it chilly lol.. we just want it on the porch because its sooooooo drafty out there.. and this way when it does snow, its a nice place to warm up without getting the house all yucky inside lol. Our porch is set up like a room, table chairs and we are getting a sort of love seat type thing so we can really hang out. And its a smaller type house, so im sure if we open the door to the kitchen the heat will come in.
I AM SO EXCITED!
One other hint: look around on this site for info on "circulating the heat"....we were getting cooked out of the porch and the house
was COLD. A little research and the heat circulates inside now. This site is packed with great info and lots of folks that want
to help.
Enjoy your burner!![]()
