Pellet Stove wont lite

I shut my stove off for about 5mins to give it a good scrape, I shut it down just so the blower wasn't blowing in my face, when I went to get it going again the stove wouldn't lite. The ignitor is only about a 1-1 1/2 old. The burn pot appeared to be hot. Maybe I just need to clean out the ignitor area? any thoughts?

If you shut it down while the blower was still going (bad idea!), it probably tripped the overtemp snap disk since you weren't exhausting the heat out of the stove.

did you remove the plate on the bottom of the burn pot to clean out the ignitor area, if not, unplug stove, remove plate w/ wing nuts and gently wipe it out so you don't damage the ignitor. make sure that you are also really scraping out the burn pot. good luck

Leave the blower on low when scraping, the combustion blower keeps the ash and smoke out of your living area. More than likely the ignitor area is packed full of ash, take the cover off and clean as described earlier, also banging on the top of the burnpot will loosen more stuff. Do you have any blinking lights? Interrupting an ignition cycle by opening the door or hopper will also shut the ignitor, as I recently learned. Good luck, it's winter now.

thanks, I was dreading buying another ignitor. I gave it a complete cleaning and also did the burnpot area, fired right up.

Not sure about that stove but some stove have the ignitor wired to a limit switch so it will shut off when the the stove is hot.
if your stove was still warm it could have been killing the power to the ignitor until the switch cooled down
