Many gas stoves and gas fireplaces are rated as being for decorative purposes only, or perhaps as for supplemental heating.

How does that compare to pellet stoves? Are they typically listed as being for heating?

Pellet Stoves/Inserts, Wood Stoves/Inserts, Gas Stoves/Inserts & Gas Fireplaces are
ALL considered as Space Heaters.

Apparently the category of decorative gas appliances describes gas logs installed in masonry fireplaces.

I've seen many gas fireplaces that were described as for supplemental heating by the manufacturer. But I don't know exactly what that means. Presumably not as the primary means of heating a home.

Yes gas logs are primarily decorative just as wood burnt in open fireplaces is.
