Does anyone know if the fire brick is real important? Went to clean the furnace and found that it was cracked in two. Put it in its spot as neatly as I could and the crack is fairly minimal.

I will be getting a new one, but just wondering if this is detrimental to the furnace's operation. I am using it while the new one comes in.

Thanks.

You should be fine until you get the replacement. It's there for a reason & ANY reason when you're talking about FIRE is IMPORTANT...More often than not they are there to insulate the wall beween the firebox & the fuel in the hopper to prevent potential ignition.
