I got my hands on a Jotul Combifire No. 6 in nice shape that I would like to install in my pole barn. The smoke hole on the stove fits a 7" pipe. The owners manual indicates the "connector" to the chimney should be a 7" pipe, and the chimney should, at a minimum be 7" x 7" or a 7" circular pipe.
With this being in a pole barn, my "chimney" will come straight out of hte top of stove, so there will be no connector. With 8" pipe and fittings be much lesss expensive than 7", I'd like to use 8" pipe for as much of the chimney as possible, including the through-the-roof kit. Does anyone have a recommendation for how far I should take the 7" stove pipe before I put in an adapter to take the size to 8"? I could see where a 7" pipe will get warmer quicker than 8", so a few feet of 7" pipe could make sense.
Thanks,
