Hi folks-

Planning a pellet stove install and the wife threw me a curveball with where she wants the stove.

We have a breakfast nook that we’re looking to use to hold the stove. The roof has a couple hips in it limiting where the exhaust can exit. Obviously the windows impact that as well.

Harman xxv manual says up to 4’ of horizontal run is fine. This would be ~2.5’ suspended by the ceiling, before exiting up through the ceiling thimble.

Any thoughts or suggestions on this option? Really appreciate folks feedback!

Is there an option to out the wall? That looks like a really long run plus those 90's

Thanks for the response. The flat walls on the inside are anything but flat on the outside. And my wife is adamant that it doesn’t go on that center window.

I’d rather not vent it under a window and up as there is little structure for me to attach piping too.

The horizontal run looks longer in the picture. Would only be about 2-2.5’.

Every 90 shortens the vertical run
not to say cleaning the pipe would be a nightmare
Can you not run it straight up and out of the roof?

That’s tough because of the hips in the roof. The larger section to the right was originally the plan, which had more room to work with. I suppose a good next step would be for me to get some measurements for the top flashing / pass through and see if that works with the clearance requirements. Kind of mock it out…

Yea… no real good visibility. We’re redoing our kitchen this time next year. I don’t mind taking some drywall down to do this right and living with it until we have folks here that can patch things.

I’m not terrible at it, but I’m by no means a professional.

Did you have a backup location for the stove, or is it going there for sure?
