So, I want to buy 2 winters of wood. I have the money right now, cash in hand.

I haven't heard from the grapple load guy in weeks, and honestly, he sounded pretty disorganized. I think he was new to the firewood business.

Guy number 2, who is supposed to deliver 8 cord of rounds, keeps just not calling as the "date" approaches.

I wanted to have the stuff split and stacked by now. Oh well. I'll feel a lot better when I have wood on this property.

I would search for someone else!New hampshire is loaded with wood! There must be others selling it

I ran into the same problem here. I am buying it by the face cord, cut and split because I couldn't get anyone to deliver logger cords. Maybe this fall for the winter of 09-10.

The sign of things to come!! Get all the wood you can. Not just for this year and next, but as much as you can possible store.

Oil right now is black gold, and soon wood will be brown gold. and you can take that to the bank!! :coolcheese:

I just ran into a Tree Guy that DOES NOT SELL FIREWOOD. He said he would bring his truck (its kind of a flat/dump bed with 2 ft sides) of strictly Oak, Hickory, Cherry. Only straight logs, no crotches or trunks, about 3 cords per load for $120 per load. Delivered! I may never step into the woods to cut trees again.

Bad part (if this is a bad part) I still have at least 8 cord to cut split in the pile to the left, the pic does not do justice to the size of the pile, some of those logs are 36" dia. and better.

Thats gotta be a real bugger to measure the cords on. I think I would question your tree guy on what kind of trees he's cuttin' down for that. ;-P

Now wheres Corie with that 8 cu ft. firebox anyways.

I know an old guy (even older than me) who heats his house for free just by letting people drop off scrap wood of the sort in that pile. I suspect more of us will actually seek out anything that will burn and is free, in the near future. This spring I cut up and stacked the driftwood on my shore (fresh water bay). usually I just burn it for shore fires.

Why bother measuring, or bringing in the house. Just toss a match on it in November, and heat the whole neighborhood for the entire winter.
That should coal for a few months. Charge the neighbors $100.00 each and let her rip. You can even have weenie & marshmallow roasts ;)
