I have a Majestic 48" wood burning pre fab fireplace. The pipe that runs from the fireplace to the top of the house is I'm pretty sure 12". I measured it last night and its greater than 11" but laying on your back and trying to measure was a little tough for an old man. I'm wanting to get a Jotul F100 and sit on my hearth in front of the fireplace how would you guys recommend interfacing to the 12" pipe/chimney.

Insulated 6" SS liner to a tee to a 22 gage connector pipe to an appliance adapter & into the rear of the stove.

thanks for the reply. My hearth is large enough to easily accommodate the wood stove and its elevated about 8" off the floor. Would this be acceptable? Not sure I follow the need for the tee.
will you have 18" in front of the stove? And like dansky said an insulated liner all the way to the top is the only way it can be done
When you said "In front of the fireplace" I thought you meant COMPLETELY. Therefore, you'd need a Tee.
You didn't indicate that the F100 would be partially IN the fireplace.
If you're going to install it that way, will it sit level? Is the hearth the same height as the bottom of the ZC box?

Firebox dims inside 42"w 27"H 24" D......hearth is 25" deep and 7" off the floor...total width of the fireplace 48" height

You will have to get creative with a block off plate & the plate on top of the
chimney will also be tricky to attach & still look good, but it can be done...

so the 6" SS liner runs the entire length of the chimney? I believe there is enough room to screw a plate on and put a collar on each side one to attach to 6" SS Liner and other side to the stove. On the roof I was thinking of the same type setup. think that should work? Aslo any opinion on the Jotul F100
The F100 isn't much of a heater, but you don't live in a cold climate, so it might work fine for you.
There are WAY too many inserts to choose from, but you need to know if that Majestic box is an
acceptable receptacle for an insert. It may not be, strengthwise or safetywise. You need to find that out first.

Putting an insert or stove in a prefab fireplace is a bit controversial. The way i look at it is unless both the manufacturer of the zeroclearnce unit and the stove say it is ok it is against code and should not be done. Putting a stove in front is one thing but sliding it into the fireplace is another thing entirely.
Take a look at the Woodstock Fireview, Progress Hybrid and Ideal Steel stoves. I think all of those should be low enough (with the short leg kit) to fit the flue under your lintel. I have no worries with the prefab fireplace. I have burnt no less than 100 cords of wood in it over 20 years and sometimes keeping a fire continuous for several weeks 24 hours a day. I was blessed with a lot of locus logs on my property that died years ago from blight I'm guessing, but solid as concrete. Chimney has caught fire a couple times thru years and burned itself out in addition to having a chimney sweep clean it thru the years.
It is not a matter of having confidence in the prefab it is a matter of will your insurance company write a policy for it or pay a claim if there is a problem. The way i see it as well as many other professionals and csia is that unless both manufactures give written consent and the 2 units are ul tested together then it voids the ul listing of the zc unit and therefor is not to code. There are also many who feel differently but at the least you need to check with local code department and your insurance company.
Good comment. In my experience, the first thing insurance companies ask is "Was it professionally installed?" If not - no insurance.
