Are there companies that make prefabricated hearths for wood stoves (ie wall surrounds and floor pieces for under the stove? We are in the process of figuring out how we'll install a hearth and it sure would be simpler if it came ready to "assemble".
Answer:
There are a number of companies that make these, however not all Hearth dealers stock them. Many have had breakage problems over the years with them. You can make hearths out of brick or stone, or use wonderboard or durarock (two brands of cement board) with tile mounted on it.
