Recently purchased a freestanding Blaze King Princess 32 with classic base and fan kit. I have it in my (4'6"w) x (3'1"h) x (1'9"d) interior brick fireplace. There's about 8" clearance from top of stove to block off plate and I plan on using double wall pipe going up 20ft~ through existing chimney. Will the thermostat function properly being tucked in to the firebox? Will the brick heat up after awhile and tell the thermostat that it's warmer than the room/house actually is and throttle down the air intake? Last thing I wanted was an insert with blower and massive sheet metal shroud to cover the opening. Not even BK's largest shroud will cover the 4'6" width.

Thinking about selling and going with a Lopi Evergreen, or something similar.

If you run your fan all the time that will help

Try it out. A small fan on the hearth, blowing cooler room air toward the back of the fireplace will help.

Note that there is insufficient hearth protection in front of the stove. A minimum of 16" is required. Also, double-walled stove pipe can not be used in a chimney. Connect using an insulated, stainless steel liner. This can be flex or rigid liner.

If purchasing an insert, go larger. You don't have to use the factory shroud. A custom one can be made. In this case I'd consider mounting it inside the opening a inch for a shadowbox effect.
