Today was my installation date on a Princess 29 insert. The dealer cut the damper area and knocked out some bricks as expected to fit the liner. They said that they were unable to make the connection to the stove due to the double lintel and suggested having a mason remove the second lintel and support as necessary. After which, they would return to finish the install. Just wanted to get some opinions on this before I get a call from the sales team. Here are some pictures… thanks

I'm not sure what the solution will be, maybe a different stove. That is load bearing, and you would have to re-build the chimney?

I know pictures can be deceiving but it really looks like there's room for the connection without modifying the lintel. perhaps an elbow or offset adapter would make it easier...

Can you get a second opinion from another chimney tech or installer? Maybe someone with tiny hands?

The solution they offered onsite was to have a mason they work with remove the lintel and brace it through some other means… not too sure until I get a call from the office. I agree that it looks like the connection could work… maybe they could have got it done if they weren’t rushing to a second Saturday install. They tried using both a 45 and 90 degree appliance adapter... no luck. I am paying them $1000 for the install so I don’t think messing with it myself or getting someone else here makes sense financially. I think moving on to the Ashford or Sirocco 25 is a better approach than structural modifications but wanted to get some outside opinions from here. Sucks to have to accept my backup stove option though.

But you're only paying them $1k if they actually install it, right?
If they promised, and agreed to install the stove after their on-site inspection for $1000, then they should have included any work required.
However in reality, they probably didn't check as it's not easy to do I bet. Now they have already started the job.

Definitely only paying them for a completed install, not a 2 hour attempt. They left a stove behind and a 30’ insulated liner they will have to come grab if i’m not satisfied with the solution. Exactly, had an on-site to confirm all my measurements and look at the chimney system. This “mistake” or oversight doesn’t seem like it falls on the homeowner. Thanks for the feedback guys.
