My regency wood stove insert is only one year old. However, three of the brick on the bottom of the stove are flaking. What I mean is the top 1/16" to 1/8" is breaking off the top of the brick. The brick is not cracked and is still intact but that top layer is flaking off. Do I need to replace the brick or are they still ok. Thanks for your help...

They will be ok until they completely break of fall apart. You can usually find fire brick at Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace Hardware that should fit.
If you just keep a small amount of the powdered ash on top of your brick when you clean your stove it will help your brick last longer :roll:
Acedware carries the older type,,reasonably priced,,if not on the floor have em order them,,they can get em. E- Bay will sometimes sell the refractory,,cost more and then there is shipping cost also.
They are still okay. Take care when you remove the ashes. Use them until they start to break into several pieces and then you know it is time for them to be replaced. They still work just as good as new even if they look a bit rough on the surface.

Another thing you might not know is that you can cut fire brick with a tile saw - even the $80 tile you might pick up at harbor freight.
I cut them outside on the driveway on my crappy table saw with an abrasive blade.
I also had to drill a hole for the startup air.
