We went last night and bought ourselves a new PE Alderlea T5. The dealer will hold it for us until this summer so that I can get the old Dutchwest out and re-do the hearth and things like that. We are really looking forward to next winter (if you can believe it) to start using the new stove. He told us the price is going up 10% soon, so the $2600 stove will be more like $2900. Of course the 10% tax credit applies. All in all I am pretty happy with our purchase. It is a lot of money (to me at least) but I figure the pay back is 4-5 years if I keep cutting my own wood, which is my master plan. Of course you can't put a price on the pleasure of looking at the fire will give us, something we didn't really have with the Dutchwest, mostly an orange glow there. He had a fire in his store model PE Summit even though it was in the 50's here yesterday. It was just glowing coals but he showed me how just one log and how fast the fire starts back up. I had already been ready to buy the stove, the demonstration just completed the deal.
