Quad Castile Manual Reset Snap Disk

For some reason, my stove has been shutting down in the middle of the night. I've had to press the manual reset on the snap disk to get it running again. I've only dealt with this when I run the stove on high. I guess the stove gets too hot and it trips the circuit. However, I've only been running the stove on medium and it happened twice this week. I replaced this snap disk a few years ago because I thought it went bad, not sure if it actually did. I can never run the stove on high for longer than 15 minutes though without having to reset that switch. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

That new convection blower might help. If your old blower wasn’t removing the heat from the heat exchanger sufficiently it could pop the disc. Have you tried it since the change? Make sure the exchanger is clean

The new blower has been in for a week. Funny that it has been happening since I installed the new convection blower. hmm. I'm not sure what you mean by the heat exchanger. Do you mean the tubes?

Yeah the tubes are what collecting heat from the firebox and blower sends it into the room. This blower, was it an oem blower?

Yes, it's a genuine Quadrafire blower.

Genuine quad from a quad dealer or one from the internet that says its a quad? when was the last thorough cleaning done? Are the pellets your using creating more ash than normal?.

Well I purchased it from MountainView Hearth Products which the description says it is a OEM part.

One thing I did notice however is that the new blower is 2300RPM where the old one is 3000RPM. I'm going to call my local Quad dealer today and see if the blowers they have are rated for 3000RPM. Also, it was cleaned one week ago. The pellets are the same pellets that I used last year without issue.

From what I’ve read about the stove they don’t like running on high for long for some reason. And lower rpm means lower cfm which could cause an overtemp. I only ask because alot of internet reailers are selling under rated motors as OEM part numbers and deceiving the purchser.

Just FYI...called my local Quad dealer and they opened up a brand new convection blower...also 2300 RPM. For whatever reason, it appears that Quadrafire changed the RPM on their blowers. The woman at the dealer told me to check my feed rate. I also blew out my vacuum switch tube to make sure that was clear.

Ok cool and thanks for the info its good to know. But that still affects the high temp snap disc.

I just noticed that my top baffle had fallen down slightly, so perhaps that could have caused my stove to overheat. In any case, I just vacuumed out the stove and fixed the baffle. Let's see what happens before I start messing around with feed rate.
