I found a pellet stove advertised in the local classifieds. It is an 01 Quadrafire Contour. From the looks of it, it seems to be modeled after the current SanteFe. Anybody have expereience with these? I am considering it as a unit to heat the cool springs and autumn nights in my cabin in new york. Maybe 10 times usage per year. What should I look out for when I check it out?

thanx

Contact the seller and ask them if this isn't a Quadrafire Castille. There is no Contour that I know of.

This is a good unit if the price is right (about $1000) and it works well, then it's worth considering, especially if pellets are decently priced in your area.

Quadrafires website shows the Contour model with a owners manual that is dated 2000.

I guess I'm most interested to know if parts are readily available for older quads. The owner said that the ignitor has been replaced once already.

My buddy owns a whitfield thats three years old before they were bought out by Lennox and he's having troubles finding an ignitor.

HHT's parts support is very good. I can still order refractories for old Heatilator fireplaces made in the 80's. HHT is the parent company of Quadrafire. If you are curious about it, download any manual and call the tech support phone number. Ask them how long they play to sell parts for the unit you are interested in.

they countour is pretty much the same stove as the santa-fe it was renamed to the santa-fe when they made a couple of cosmetic changes there should be no problem getting parts for it.
