Use the Search link in the upper right corner of the page to query "MV E2" and you will get a number of posts on the E2 issues. You can also go to the Quadra-Fire Face Book page and under the "Posts to Page" link you can scroll down through additional comments and the Quadra - Fire responses to E2 stove concerns.
Remember that people typically come to this forum site, or comment on the Quad Corporate FB page, when they are having problems with their particular stove model, not when it is running well, so it's difficult to gauge how widespread or isolated the E2 issues are.
That sad, having the stove glass spontaneously explode on a brand new stove from the newest generation Quad model understandably has E2 owners, and Quad corporate alike it seems, justifiably concerned. There are a number of E2 owners on this site who have installed the updated control box and made the air / fuel adjustment settings as Quad has recommended to address the issues, so hopefully those folks will chime in on how those modifications have worked for them.

I've had mine since December 2014 and have had no problems.
I did get the new board installed, but have not noticed any real difference.
Just my two cents.
I do love the unit.

I don't see how the glass could blow?
I believe it could have been a batch that was defective, which would break under very high heat.

There is a reason they distributed new boards, and according to posts, it ain't because of a bad batch of ceramic.

According to someone who posted on here that had visited the factory last month, the glass breaking only occurred on 3 stoves if I recall correctly (3 too many--no argument there). I haven't heard of any issues or seen any posts/problems since then. I had the old board for 5 tons, and had the new board put in about a ton ago, and have had zero problems with either. Its a very quiet, very efficient, powerful heater.
Do you find the E2 runs any better on a particular pellet. I know some stoves are finicky with certain pellets.

You can see the different pellets I have burned in my signature--the stove eats everything I feed it. Softwoods tend to burn hotter and cleaner on average (I have had good luck with LaCrete, LG's, Blazers), but it burns the blends just as well, with just a bit more ash. As you are dumping the ash pot daily, this shouldn't make much difference. You just may have to vacuum/clean more often. Personally I'll spend a little more for a good softwood as I notice a difference, but for some it's not worth the price. A lot depends on what brands are accessible to you and what the costs are.

One exploding glass is too many, but... Quad is taking care of the issue we hope. We haven't had much feedback with new control boards, the stoves seem about the same. The one in the store lights a little faster, but operationally I haven't seen much difference. LaCrete and Spruce Pointe burned through very nicely, NEWP and Genevas are much ashier, but both had good heat. Stove is still whisper quiet, over 1 year old, has had one major cleaning so far. She seems happy... I still like the stove, but I am waiting for the Enviro Meridian cast to get in. We'll see.

For folks that are debating choices, it is good to be apprised of the good, the bad and the ugly. I am sure there are many E2 owners that are happy with their stoves. There are at least 3 that we know of that have had fairly harrowing experiences. Quadrafire can take the credit of a relatively rapid response and fix so kudos are due but there is a cost to the stove performance. Best to be upfront about it all...
When folks get the gloss over on expectations, performance and amount of effort needed to operate and maintain their pellet stoves, they become very disillusioned and the stove ends up on craigslist or kijiji.

Hi LG, we have 92 units in the field so far as of today and one in the store, thus far, 1 had a shatter episode. No one was hurt thank God, but it was scary for them. They elected to keep their stove, we put a new door/glass on and all has been fine so far. That was my first hearing of the problem so no one knew it was going to be a problem. I suspect there were more than 3 incidents too. To their credit, Quad has tried to correct the issue, to their discredit, the problem happened at all. I suspect it will continue to be a good selling stove, and provide robust amounts of heat. The future will tell.
