Hey guys, Have a question for you that hopefully you can help me with. In the last couple of days I've noticed a ticking sound coming from where I believe the feed motor is. The sound resembles a mouse in a squirell cage..hopefully it's not that. It's a little annoying but if it's something like a bearing going out it would be nice to know now while I'm still under warranty. The sound is definitely coming from the right side facing the stove, don't suspect it's either the convection fan or the combustion blower. Thanks in advance..the stove is a 2007 model.

If not, why do you think it can't be the other blowers? What blower is on the right side of the stove? The sound you describe reminds me of the "squirrel cage" blower fan that most pellet stoves use for the convection blower.

the ticking is the auger motor. it does that on sslow and low flame heights and low speeds. quad is working on it. it won't hurt the stove, just annoying as hell.

I had the same problem with my Mt. Vernon. It was very annoying, especially in a brand new and expensive stove! The noise is coming from the auger motor, usually when stove is running at low setting in auto mode. Try opening the hopper lid and the noise will stop. Apparently there is a design flaw in a low voltage relay. You can try adjusting the flame height +2 over the current setting. That should stop the noise. If not try the utility pellet setting. Otherwise run in manual mode at medium setting or above. Quadrafire is aware of the problem, but there is no factory fix at this time.
Thanks no pane, guess I'm not the only one dealing with this. I know Kap at iburncorn and have contacted him plus I've called the dealer that I bought the stove from. If they've put out a fix for this it's time for a replacement as I'm still under warranty. Thank for the link....very informative
I had the exact same problem with mine. The Quadrafire tech support nailed it right off the bat. Your flame height adjustment needs to be pushed up a couple of notches. I went for -4 to -2, burning Lignetics pellets.

My suggestion (unless you've already done it) is to put a "formal" repair request into the dealer. That way, if Quad does finally come up w/ a fix, and it's after your warranty ran out on that part, you should have some leverage to have them still fix/replace it n/c.
