Question about Mt. Vernon Insert.

Can anyone tell me the values on the properties screen display on a Mt. Vernon thermostat that has had all of the newest / latest / greatest software updates?

My no update stove has a manufacture date listed as 3/12 and this is what displays when the properties screen is selected;


PROPERTIES

WC: 50h UFTI: 002

SC: 76h Rev: 030

CB: 20h TC: 0

CV: 20h


I heard the fuel table was revised which could change some values. Also the ignitor should be updated to a lower wattage (longer life) for pellet use only. Any other changes?

I am not positive about this, but I think Rev. 030 is the latest.

Hmmmm. Were those the factory settings as delivered or have there been any software updates?

Could my user settings effect the properties screen?

My other settings are as follows;

Heat output 3

Fuel type softwood

Flame height - 4

Temp diff 2.0

Elevation normal

Convect fan quiet

No updates. I don't know how the other parameters would affect it. Mine is off right now but I typically use auto on hardwood with a flame height of 0 and all other settings match yours.

No updates for so far for mine either. Since our stoves were manufactured within a month of each other I'd guess they would have similar factory settings. This may be a bad assumption.

I set all my user settings to match yours then ran the stove. The properties screen values did not change when the new user settings were applied and the stove operating.

Hopefully, someone with a newer stove or possibly an installer or service tech familiar with the Mt. Vernon can enlighten me.

Just for a heads up. If you ever do get updated revisions to your stove. Once the revisions are downloaded into the thermostat, if you ever select High Elevation setting in the user settings screen, the thermostat will revert back to the original revision. I sometimes use high elevation to introduce more air into the burn pot for high density hardwood pellets, and I can confirm that it will erase all the new revision settings and revert back to it's default settings.

Sounds like you may have found a bug. Or is this intentional? Did you bring it up to the service tech?

Although I have seen it, I have never selected the "High Elevation" setting. The installer may have when he did the stove setup but when he left the display showed Normal Elevation.

I would make sense to me that when new revisions come along and are updated, that becomes the baseline and the system would default to those new settings.

The reason I started this thread is because a salesperson from the dealership called concerning a early season stove cleaning offer. I told him that I already did a deep cleaning of the stove so thanks but no thanks. During the conversation he asked what the date of manufacture on the stove was. He said there has been a fuel table update and an ignitor upgrade since the stove came out. He scheduled a tech to come out in a couple weeks. I am curious to see what changes are made and if these changes affect the properties display. I'll report back.

Interesting. I called my dealer just a short while ago after seeing this and they told me there have been no recent software updates to the mt Vernon's.

This was a salesperson that I talked to, not a service tech. That may be the reason for the different response.

Hopefully another forum member who is a Mt. Vernon owner, a dealer or an installer will chime in and shed some light on this.

So I checked my May 2012 Mount Vernon AE. WC-50h SC-77h CB-20h CV-20h UFTI-002 REV-040 TC (-15).

I have no record of any software update done to my stove, and have not changed the any other settings on he machine. Hope this helps!

Your insert does have a different (higher) rev number (-040) than the rest of us. My manufacture date is 3/12 and John 193's is 4/12.

As far as you listing May 2012. Is that the date of manufacture or when you started using the insert? Are you the original owner of the insert?

I am the original owner of the insert. May 2012 is what is stamped on the stove. It was installed in November of 2012, and serviced in May of 2013. Like I said, I'm not aware of any software upgrade that was done. It was just a cleaning, replacement of a noisy auger motor, and a gasket replacement.
