Installed ZC wood stove insert not feeling safe about black trim panel around it covering drywall. Thinking about cutting out drywall 30" from around insert and replacing with cement board and covering with black sheet metal. Any thoughts from any of you?

What kind of ZC? Brand, model? Cement board and black metal sure sounds safe, providing the black metal is painted with a high temp paint.

This is the model 74 ZC Non-Catalytic Wood Stove (broken link removed to http://www.buckstove.com/wood/model74zc.html) and I'm the ZC clearance cabinet is coming from buckstove built for this stove. It also says no floor protection directly under cabinet is needed but still going to put something under it.
