Hey Guys...I noticed in my Hampton HI300 manual that it suggests opening the air intake all the way during reloading, which I get. However, it also says the internal fan should be shut off for 30 minutes after each reload...why do they recommend not using the fan for 30 minutes after a reload?

I have the same stove in a flush-mount version. I've definitely seen the airflow and stove temp change when the fan goes on or off. My assumption is that the 30 minutes with no fan is to make sure the cat gets hot enough again before you close it.

No cat on hi300! If its still blowing warm air ill shut it off for reload and back to auto as soon as i shut door. I dont see a problem with it on, just tells me its warm enough and should be on!

There is no cat. I think they want you to get it hot as fast as possible to minimize smoke out the chimney. I may not do that if the fan is still running on 'auto', but I crack open the door to get it going fast. I always keep a VERY close eye on that.

Just guide lines, they also say with fan on keep damper open 1/2", i have no problem keeping it closed all the way! There is still a small opening the damper doesnt cover with it fully closed

But you don't want to smolder and smoke either. It helps if you're actually there to keep an eye on things.

Def good to watch it.
I dont understand why with fan on it has to be open 1/2", so with out it on, closed all the way!
I run it like i ran my shelburne, but shuttn the shelburne dwn would sometimes smolder it. This stove likes to burn quick, i have to shut it down much quicker and it burns hot shut down all the way.

I think that's because the running fan removes heat.

Ill keep it shut and open as it cools if im home. Seems to work well with alot of heat output!
