Hi if this is in the wrong spot feel free to move. I’m looking to remodel my fireplace and also getting a new wood fireplace insert. I’m going to end up putting granite down so the hearth outside of the insert will be higher then what is inside of the fireplace. My question is what can I put inside the fireplace to level it out so the insert sits flush with the granite. (I hope that makes sense). Attached is a photo of my fireplace and what I am having done. Thanks

You can build up the floor of the fireplace with cement board.

Make sure the proposed shelf meets or exceeds the clearance requirements for the insert.

Great thank you. And thanks for the tip with the shelf. I just googled it, did not know that.

Mantel clearance requirements should be listed in all insert manuals.
