I need to order a custom length snout from the t to my new Jotul Oslo. I need to get it ordered tomorrow in time for the installer next week. I'm trying to gauge the length of the snout from the T and I need to know how much of the snout actually goes inside the flue collar on the Oslo. It looks like there is room for at least at least an inch. Do I want it go in any further?

i would say it needs to go in about 2 inches

When I installed my Jotul F600 the horizontal piece of the t-connector was a very tight fit inside the flue collar of the stove. At first I couldn't even get it inside the collar far enough to allow me to fasten it with screws through the holes in the collar. I ended up having to use a strap clamp that looped around the stove and the back of the t-connector and tightened the clamp until I could get the pipe about an inch inside the collar. I never could have forced two inches inside!

depending on the pipe maker some tee snouts need to be crimped

My t-snout is not crimped...and I cant get more than an inch into the flue collar. So the installer needs to crimp the snout? I called the shop where I got my stove and they weren't much help.

you dont need to. It only needs to be crimped when it doesnt fit.

I called Jotul NA, who then referred me to the distributor who serves my dealer. I spoke to their tech department. One inch of pipe inside the flue collar is more than adequate. Apparently on the older design, there was a ring/plate that stopped more than an inch of pipe from going into the flue collar. He didn't think there was any way I could get 2 inches inside the collar based on its design.

One inch is definitely enough, on my older Oslo there are stops so an inch is all that will fit. I'm not sure why you need to order a custom length pipe though because I was able to use regular black stove pipe which I cut to length myself and installed with the crimped end into the flue collar.

I have 10 inches between the T and the flue collar. So either I order a T with a custom length snout, or I get the regular snout and add a coupler and another piece of pipe. I thought the custom cut snout would be the cleanest install.

Well maybe the diameter of your T is slightly larger than mine because a piece of regular 6" stove pipe slid perfectly over my T and the crimped end of the pipe fit perfectly into the stove collar. I only have 4 inches between the T and the collar but the length would not matter because the stove pipe is cut to length anyway. Ask about the diameter of the T fitting because if it's the same as the diameter of the male end[crimped] of regular stove pipe then you can just use regular stove pipe.
