ran my new-to-me 372XP today......

and I gotta say I'm impressed! That thing is an animal! We cut 5 big trees down today (a 60' silver maple with a 5' main trunk, two 60' chestnut oaks with 2' diameter trunks, a 60' white oak with a 2 1/2' trunk, a 40' white oak and limbed a huge black oak. That saw impressed the hell out of me, no pics because it POURED LIKE MAD all morning off and on, pics on the next outing. I was even running junk pump gas in that saw, didn't even get a chance to port the muffler yet. Can't wait to make some mods to it!

really similar as far as power to my ported 041AV Super (that saw is 72cc) but the RPM's are much faster with the XP. Not to mention the XP is almost 10lbs lighter! I would say it's equilivant to one buddy's MS460.......

I usually run AvGas in these newer saws, with a 50 or 60 to1 mix. My older saws I use 93 octane pump gas, with a 35 to 1 mix, which I was running in the XP today.

Not saying I'm gonna run over and jump on the Husky bandwagon, but it'll do for now, til a MS460 magnum or 660 magnum comes around. Hell, I'll probably keep it either way!

372 was my first choice but I wanted new.

Nothing wrong with husky band wagon. If it works with no issues. (really any saw)

It means to add a 2nd exhaust port. To help the saw breathe better (more power). But you normally have to richen the fuel mixture afterwards.

1st pic is the stock port on the left. 2nd pic is the added port "Muffler Mod" on the right!




Oh and thats a Bad A$$ Saw Scotty! If I didnt get the 460, the 372 was gonna be it! Cant be disappointed in either of those models. IMO

When I add that 2nd port to the 288XPW in a couple weeks (after the parts arrive) if I went back to 32-1 fuel mix like I used 20 yrs ago be good? Or 40-1 be more suitable? I've been running 50-1 in my 2 largest saws for years (factory recommended).

Gotcha. I retuned it a little after adding that high performance air filter setup last fall,piece of cake.Sure dont wanna lean it out too much & seize the piston *gasp*

Scott, what size bar is on that saw?

Dennis there is a 20" bar on it now, I'm still have to dress the rails on the 30" bar I got in the deal before I can put it to use. It pulls that 20" bar with serious authority, I'm sure it will be close to the same with the 30". Especially when I do the dual port muffler. I may also buy an 8 tooth rim for the sprocket while I'm tinkering around with it.

You can stay with 50:1 as long as you are running a good synthetic.

You don't to go to 40:1 unless you've ported the saw. I can't see any reason to go to 32:1.


And to the OP, congrats on an awesome saw. I can't decide if I like my 7901 or 2171 better but definitely like them both better than a 460.
