New user of a Ravelli pellet fire.

Pellets burn well for a short time then flame dies away.

Also - the auger is noisy droning regularly every few minutes. Is this usual?

Flame dies away as in going out completely? Does your stove have a Proof of fire switch? It might need cleaning if so. Or auger not running properly. Auger noise is present in a lot of stoves, some more noticeable than others. I would look at yours to see if something is not right with it, it does sound like it needs attention. What model Ravelli do you have?

Flame doesn't die completely. We have the manual and the flame looks like the "incorrect combustion" image.

The suggested solution is:
1. to increase the air %
2. Increase the loading quantity of the pellet.

We do not have access to either menu to make these adjustments.

Did the stove ever run good where it is now, or where it was before? Is it a new install? Does it use outside air? I'd check the air piping from inlet to the combustion blower. Is should be OK as there is a pressure switch, but it might not be enough.

We're running it from scratch right now. Complete clean plus primed the auger. Now waiting for the fire to reach 18 degrees C.
What should it do then?

Once it hits temp it should settle into its normal feed cycle, not keep fading out after every little while. The noisy auger may be easier to judge once it's actually running steadily.

Ok. Flame started to die down. Hopper was low, so I filled it and the flame grew stronger. Does a dying flame indicate the need for more pellets (prior to running out?)?

Yes if the hopper low and almost out, the flame will go out gradually. The hopper should be refilled when 1/4 full unless you want it to run out.
