re-facing fireplace

well im not going to get to it this year i dont think, but i have been having thoughts about re-facing/redoing my fireplace. First picture is how it looks now. New GCI60 insert will be installed in a couple weeks. Second picture is what i just drew up and what im thinkin of doing. I just hope its not to over powering for the room. Any thoughts or ideas would be great....
