rear loading stoves????????

first of all hello to all. I'm so glad i found this site it rocks!
Now down to business my question is this does there exist a wood stove that has rear loading cast iron doors but yet the other side of the unit is glass or at-least eye pleasing? I ask this cause im wanting to replace my existing inefficient majestic fireplace with a more efficient wood stove. The install location is on the wall between the garage and living room so i thought it wood be cool to get the view of the fire from inside while keeping the mess out in the garage. any and all comments and advise are greatly appreciated. Never heard of one. If your concerned about the wood mess, maybe look into pellets or gas? I like to keep the wood mess down with one of those little hand held rechargeable vacuums.

it's not that I'm concerned about the mess I've had the fireplace for 10 years i just thought it would be more of a convenience thing besides the wife and kids can't seem to clean up after they add to the fire now.....that's a whole other story. i do have a pellet stove down stairs in rec. room but i just like the authentic view of the fire in the living room

There are some English double sided stoves that might allow this, but I haven't seen any in this country. Make a large hearth that's easy to sweep clean and a good wood storage system alongside of the stove or insert.

Gilli- You might want to look into the JUCA stove, it appears from the website that you can order one that will do what you want. I don't have any practical experience with these units, but if you are considering this(or any other unit) you will get some opinions by starting a new thread on that topic. I hope you find something to fit your needs, you are right, this site rocks!

That is a cool idea. I wonder if you could construct a masonry heater with a big steel insulated door on the back that would let you load from the garage.

Build yourself a three sided 'wood box' in the garage that is open on the top to toss wood into. Butt this up to the shared wall of your house and cut an appropriate sized, insulated 'wood retrieval' door flush with your interior wall with the door opening into your living space. The mess stays in the garage, wood is accessible from the interior.

+1 Shari, you beat me too it. This style is excellent and I've seen several. Just open a door close to the stove or fireplace, grab some wood and put it right into the stove. Very little mess inside.
