I replaced a gas insert with a Kozi pellet 100 insert.
I have removed everything in side and am left with bare stud, and gas chimney liner,
I did install a pellet stove liner in the chimney, and now am redoing the fire box/ insert area.
my plans are to install cement backer board, using (broken link removed to http://www.ebay.com/itm/251295625459?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649)
will this be sufficient? or any additional precautions?
how about sealing the corners, what to use?
I had considered using 22ga sheet metal as an additional barrier, (creating a fire box ,kinda)
I'm in the boonies, so no local inspector.
just want to be safe, seeking input on best / economical method.
thanks
