Asking for a friend. The stove pilot works fine and seems to have a strong flame but it will not ignite the burner. Read the manual but no luck. Stove has been idle for at least a year. What are the basic trouble shooting steps.
 
Need more info. Make and model, thermostat in place etc. Could be gas valve, wiring, thermostat, limit switch etc...
 
I actually got it figured out. Very simple. Thier was a loose box hanging off it with a switch on.off.remote it was in the off position. Thanks.
