Last week I ordered a temperature & humidity monitoring system from Acurite.com. the system is comprised of "bridge" that plugs into an Ethernet port on your router, and three little sensors. The bridge communicates with a cloud-based service that you can use to set alarms for high and low temps and humidity, low batteries on the sensors, and loss of communications between the bridge and the service. It gives me all the information I need to know if the house has lost power, or if the stove has gone out. So far, I'm liking this setup quite a bit.

can you provide a link to the products that you purchased?

does it actually text you with power lost at the house or does it text you that communication signal lost, and then you can just figure that the power has went out at the house?

also do they charge for the app monitoring (monthly) or once you buy the setup its free to use as long as you own it?

You can also use the sensors in your refrigerator,..I tried to order the system but its been out of stock everytime I look..

The cloud server will text and/or email if communication is lost for 15 minutes. From there I'll call the house, and if the answering machine doesn't pick up I'll know. Or I can check the outage map at the electric company website. Of course, this works only if your internet connection is "always on" - not dialup.

There's no charge for the service, but I think there's an extended version you can subscribe to.
