Removeing Harman p38 from exhaust vent.

I made a post last week about my distribution motor getting noisy.Also,I don't have a lot of experience working on my stove.The dealer had serviced it for nine years,who has now closed.No other dealers within 100 mi.So hopefully I can learn to work on the stove?
I have never pulled the stove out from the wall.I will have to in order to change the motor out when the time comes.QUESTION IS:There are 3 bolts on the exhaust flange that disconnects the vent.Is that an acceptable way to separate the stove from the vent?And when I put it back, put some Hi temp sealer on the flange?
I found this motor on Amazon.Is Broan as good as the Dayton?http://www.amazon.com/Broan-Vent-Motor-99080464-60hz/dp/B002NC32PI#customerReviews...

Isn't amazon also giving the price of a Dayton mounted with fan on that link for $61? Check out that motor and fan at Grainger too. Fan may only need to be cleaned well and that's a easy one to remove from the stove. Fan and motor. CAn go to auto supply and get some sheet gasketing or use a strip of flat rope gasketing. Hate just gluing things back together an find I have to take apart latter. Usually there Is a stove to pipe adapter but some dealers install by just gooping up the pipe and shoving into the stove flange.

On Amazon the $61 is just the fan.For fan and motor its $127.93.At Granger its $82.65 for a Dayton,none in stock here.

I will need to separate my stove from the vent also in a few weeks for the first time. I have a corner installation direct vent straight out with OAK to a wall thimble. After disconnecting the OAK and removing the three screws, do I pull the vent away from the stove somehow, or pull the stove away from the vent?

That was my question also.I'm old,big and fat,so I will have to pull my stove out.Thats the only way I can get to the motor and blower.So I assume I can take the three screws loose and pull forward.

Most stove vent pipes are sealed to the thimble to keep cold air from coming around the pipe so may have to remove the seal before moving pipe or breaking the stove flange from its gasket on the stove and make a new gasket for the stove. Have no idea of you setup to give a real hard answer.

Remove 3 bolts, tap it lose, pull stove away from corner with flange on pipe.. Get yourself a new gasket before disassembly..

Thanks, Bio B and gfreek.I know, once I tare into it I'II wonder why I sweated it.I'm going to try and keep my Harman going until I sell out in a few years...

Shouldn't be a problem with keeping it going if the board lasts and dont have to upgrade it. Only real issue with that stove. So make sure you have a good surge supressor.
