Is it very difficult to remove furnace cement once cured?

Not to get too far into it, but essentially I want to seal the outer area where my secondary tubes interface with the firebox. However, in the future the tubes will need to be removed for maintenance. Will I be able to chip off that cement later on?

I see no need to do this at all. I think it's the first time this has been asked. I doubt the furnace cement would even remain there for a season.
