I am replacing an old Ashley wood ciculator soon. Unfortunately those heaters aren’t built like they used to be. The problem is the height of the exhaust flue can’t be changed without major renovation and most heaters nowadays are top exhaust and too high for my setup. Any recommendations of heaters that would be a “Plug and play”? It would need to be capable of heating 1800+ squ ft. Thanks for suggestions.

Without knowing the height of your Ashley's flue collar, can you tell us what dimension you need?
Take a look at the Woodstock Ideal Steel. This stove is sold direct from the manufacturer in VT. It's a good heater that can be configured rear-vent and has adjustable leg height. One caveat to note is that any modern stove is going to want seasoned wood to burn well. The old Ashley was not as fussy. On the plus side, it has a nice picture window view of the fire and will burn a lot less wood.
