Hello
This Jakel Inc Combustion Blower is at least 20 years old in this Harman XXV and the bearing just started screaching in the middle of the night!
So out with the old and in with the new.
Also some cleaning and lubing to prevent rusting and galling!
Anyone else do this?

Pic 2&3 - old Jakel with double paddle impeller
Pic 4 - Only way to reuse the mounting plate is to cut the shaft!
Pic 5 - Wire wheel the bolts clean and spray lube them with dry moly.
Pic 6&7 - New Gleason Avery combustion blower and double paddle impeller lubed with dry moly spray on mounting plate & blades
Pic 8&9 - XXV fires and runs quiet again!

Well done as usual Don…still waiting to find another “diamond in the rough” XXV to restore! Looks like that stove was in a pretty humid environment hey?
Thanks
No not very humid, if it was I could feel it. Also the blower did last 20 years. I do agree that the rusting still happened probably from moisture coming down the chimney into the venting. That does happen a lot in the north east here especially in the summer. So I do highly recommend Selkirk DT venting for the best winter use for warm dry burn air and disconnect the venting completely in the summer time or when not in use for any long period. Also placing damp rid in the fire box during those long periods of non use. :-)
