Replacing Class A exterior chimney with pellet pipe

Hello everybody.
As a follow up of that other post that had no replies (lol) on ideas for the wall thimble, I now wanted to ask if you guys had any reasons to choose from a rain cap like this:

vs using one of these:

The first one makes me think it sort of restricts the air flow more than the second one. Any thoughts? I am also trying to figure out if I should make sure the end is more than 2 feet over the ground (I live in MA but i quite frankly don't recall seeing that much of snow accumulation in that area where the class A cleanout was).
 
Both of those are used horizontally. The first one uses a hood
instead of a pipe that is used in the second one. Both work fine
in keeping wind, rain and snow out of your exhaust your choice.
