Replinishing Neighbors Wood Supply

Our incredible neighbor let us use a few cords of dry wood this winter out of his barn! Some of it had been seasoned between 6 - 10 years. I spent this afternoon cleaning out the stall in the barn and replaced some of the wood that we used. Took two full trailers today and will probably take two more tomorrow after church. I can't even begin to say how THANKFUL I am to a wonderful neighbor. FYI, replacing all of the wood with good hard wood. I might just have to take him an extra trailer full .

Most definitely on both counts! So nice to have good quality wood for our first season burning. Our woodstove has done incredible and I haven't paid a propane bill

Just finished replenishing the neighbors wood supply and made sure that he had all really good hardwood. I also worked on the wood stack back at the house. I have a solid two years of wood c/s/s with some of it already drying for a full year. Next year should be much easier....I hope .

"Nice" neighbors are a lot like "nice" pets/kids. They're basically mirrors, reflecting back to you what you show them. I've reminded myself of that many times over the years, even when any one of our's have pissed me off big time.
1.) Property line encroachment? be pleasant and stick to the facts. (The trees you just planted are on my property. I don't care that they're there, but if I wish to remove them in the future they will be removed. If you are uncomfortable with that now is the time for you to transplant them inside your property line; followed up with a registered letter stating same)
2.) We make the effort to shovel the approach to the mailboxes (cleaning up the part the plow guy can't get with the blade) because we can and our neighbor can't. Routinely deliver mail when the mailbox area is really icy.
3.) Know neighbors' phone numbers... power is out? ask if they need anything. Knock on their doors to check in case they've eliminated the land line. Some day we'll need that help, too.
When someone does you a good turn, pay your good fortune forward! it's takes the wobble out of how "the world goes round".
