Bought my first wood stove, a Buck 27000-b single door. Glass broken, rusty and full of ash, wood and rotten fire brick. It’s cleaning up nice though. But need advice on the floor beneath and wall behind.
Floor is pergo. I’ve purchased half inch durock and some nice pavers. Minimum base size for this model is 53x48. To make it easy on myself I’m going 60x48. However, I could not find a 4x8 sheet. I think I got 3x5, two of them. Where the two pieces meet, is there a non flammable tape or something I should use?
As for the wall behind, it’s currently old school wood panel. The chimney access is behind that panel. I’ll be using more durock, and then building a brick wall. I can’t find any videos for that exact set up. I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just replace the wood panel with the durock, removing a possible flammable from the equation. Any opinions? Anything tips on the process for what I’m proposing?
