Ridin' low and building the stash

I decided to avoid delivery charges this year and put that money towards better pellets instead, which left me with a bunch of trips in my Santa Fe @ 1/2 ton or so a piece. I debated taking more but decided I should leave some suspension travel left for the trip home

Here's a pic of the ride height with 33 bags loaded (1320lbs)...and a little room between the wheels and wheel wells for bumps.

All of which contributed to building my stash for the season:

2 tons+ of MWP Softies, 1+ ton of TSC (MWP blend) and well over 1 ton (63 bags) of Lignetics, GT's GS's MC's and LG Super Premiums

Only burned a little over 3 tons last season of GS, so I should have plenty for even a rough winter to come.

I built simple racks for them to minimize storage space in my basement (2ft x 8ft) along a few of the walls. Last season I stored 4 tons in my garage and although it avoided stairs, they were in my way all year. So I decided to put in the extra work upfront this season and put them in the humidity controlled basement instead.

Thanks! The engine, tranny and brakes didn't seem to mind but the suspension didn't have a whole lot of travel left for our rough roads so I'm not sure I'd push it further then this with much of a drive. I gotta get a hitch on so I can use my trailer and haul more!

I'm embarassed after comparing my stack to yours. I gotta re-organize. Maybe I can fit another ton in the garage. Looks Great!
Took 2 trips but I got a ton home using my Acura and the same low-rider technique.

i can get the crabbe white spruce at a shop here for dramatically cheaper than i got them for this year. but the much higher delivery fee and the fact that they manually unload and can only bring 2 tons per $50 delivery (from less than 10 miles away) make it still better to get them delivered up from the south.

but if the prices remain as is, i may decide next spring to do 25 bag loads in the subaru.
just spread the load around on the floor boards over all the wheels.

I load them in the bed of my 3/4 ton. I have overload airbags, with much the most I've gotten in it is 2 tons. She road like a caddi with the bags juiced at 100 lbs (max) yesterday I had to haul some 6" granite curbing about 50 miles, the weight was around 5,000 lbs That was a haul! The ol transmission was hurting! I loaded our dump trailer with 4 tons than one in my bed. That was a slow ride..

I can't imagine having to haul pellets, or anything, without a good trailer or pick-up.

That part is much easier then hauling 4 plus tons of pellets to the basement by myself and re-stacking them all nicely. I do miss having my trailer though, which is why I need to get a hitch on the new ride so I can use it again.
