Sad day for my Echo.

Well after 5 years of flawless service my Echo finally needed a new oil filter . It has served me well and has never had any issue before this. Makes me want to give the filter a funeral and a proper send off. My question is how the heck do I get it out of the oil compartment ? It looks like the filter is on a rubber hose in there but unlike my other saws I cant seem to pull the rubber hose out and I don't want to tear the hose.

Thanks Danno I think maybe it is stuck on the plastic lip inside. That does look like I thought it should be. I am borrowing a friends grabber tool tonight and trying again. I had not even thought about going to Echo site to get the manual . Mine is some where in my garage and I cant find it.

You should just be able to bend a very small "hook" on a piece of stiff wire (coat-hanger type) and gab the hose and slowely pull her out. Sounds like you almost had it, just caught on the lip needing some "finagling".

I have decided that after your situation and my butting heads with him about it that I will give my business to someone more deserving of it. Al has gotten a lot of business from me over the years and never an issue. When I asked him about your tiller he acted like I shot him and really lost my respect by his crappy attitude. There is an excellent saw dealer in Dewitt who I have done buisness with in the past. They sell Echo and Husqvarna there so I am still saving for that dream saw . AC has very generously offered to sell me an 034 Stihl that runs well so I cant pass up the price. As you know I am not the biggest Stihl fan but maybe AC will make a believer of me It will be better than my almost dead again Poulan.

I managed to get it out of the saw WHAT A PITA that was It was stuck sideways in the oil tank at a really odd angle which I think might be why it was not oiling well. I will hit a log this weekend and see. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.

Well I ordered a filter the other day but I don't have it yet. The old one got soaked in a can of gas hopefully it works now. There was a lot of black gunk that came out of it and I blew through it with an air wand which mad a nice mess all over . I may wind up with a spare yet.

That 034 Super is pretty much the same unit as a 036. Mo' Power than my plain jane 034 and if there was a saw to make a believer out of you, that'd be a good one. Had my 034 in some 28" Oak today and it made short work of it.
