Funny, my Wife said the same thing......for free, I can't argue.
 
I'm terrible at ID'ing wood, but looks like Oak, Maple, maybe some Ash......I think there may be some Hickory in there too ?
 
I used to live in SW CT and getting tied into tree service guys was great. Lots of hardwood around and less people who burned wood. The tree guys were always looking for a place to unload.

Up here, things are a little different...
