I new I had seen a saw on his lower shelf under his workbench. So I asked him if he used that old chainsaw anymore over the phone. He said no. You can have it if you want along with some other stuff. I said "Yes, I need a back up chain saw for the woods!" He said come and get it whenever you want. And this is what I ended up with.


I have not had much time to try it out. I pulled on it 6 times and nothing. And yes, the "on" button was "ON"! I put the choke on and pulled on it 3 times. Nothing. Wait a minute. Maybe I should check the gas tank. (broken image removed)

Nothing wrong with that saw, that's a good little limbing saw! We'll have to do a spark check first off. TAke the plug out of it, make sure the button is turned to "on", and lay the elecrode onto a metal part of the saw. Pull a few times, you should see a blue spark between the electrodes. Make certain your ground electrode (the finger shaped part) is touching metal on your saw. If you got spark, that's half the battle. Before you take the plug out, pull slowly on the rope....you should feel compression. I'm betting it just needs a simple carburetor overhaul, maybe some fuel lines and a filter.

Oh, that will go well with my other Stihl! And I have been so busy I have not had time to look at it. I was serious when I said I needed to check the gas. The tank was bone dry. I am sorry Scotty! Then the wife called and said dinner was ready. Then I had to go back outside and finish the work I had started earlier. That was before I went up to my parents to dry the clothes because we are waiting on a part on our dryer. That was also after I decided to cut my parents grass because it was long and my father was busy doing other things. That was after ........... I could get more smileys in there but I will spare you the drama. As my wife would say to me. We are not in mamby pamby land dear. Help me Scotty.

Dammit Gas.....I just built TWO of those a couple of years ago.......and a new kitchen, 5 new bedrooms, a new dining room.....and a kitchen at my brother's house across the street.

After this living room is done, I'm taking a friggin BREAK.......

Thanks Danno. I am going to put some gas in it today. We are going back in the woods a little bit to install a much needed culvert on a road and will need to do some trimming. We will see now if I can get it running.

No worries. I have my ms290 if the little one does not run. This time I will be sure the 009 has gas in it when I try to start it!

Well guys I took the 009 out with some gas in it. Pulled on it a few times. Nothing. Choked it and pulled on it a few times and ....... the dam rope pulled out and did not recoil back in. UUGGGHH!! I did not have time for it. I was in the cutting mood. So I went to cleaning things up with the ms290 in an area that needed it. When break time came to get some lunch I dropped the 009 off at the Wood Chop shop and asked them to fix it up for me. The wife picked it up for me the next day. They had fixed the recoil and sharpened the chain and cleaned it up a bit. New plug as well. Took it out in the woods with me a few days later when I had some time. And is that a nice little saw. The weight difference between the 009 and the ms290 is huge. Great saw for limbing and cutting up the smaller stuff. It cost me $46 to have them fix it up for me. And since it was given to me by my Dad I figured it was time to get it cleaned up and in better shape. What a great back up saw. And I got to enjoy my time in the woods instead of trying to be a mechanic. Just thought I would give you an update. Later.

Good deal Gas, my 310 had a new used gear for the oiler put on at the Wood Chop Shop.
