Hi..

I was wondering what types of screws are needed for replacement on a wood stove? Hardened steel? Iron?

Also, I am replacing the door gasket and one of the screws going through the manifold to clip the glass is severely bent after it was stripped and had to remove with locking pliers. I may also have to replace the shorter screws just going through the clip to clip the glass.

Does anyone have an idea on the size required for these?

Thanks

IIRC, almost every screw used in VC stoves has a 1/4-20 thread. Some are Phillips head other are hex head of varying lengths. Grade 5 steel will work just fine.

The glass screws are 10-24. 1/4" length for the shorties, 1" for the manifold. Everything else is 1/4-20 as Daksy mentioned. The screws that came out of mine where plain steel with no head markings, which usually indicates grade 2 or 3. Just don't use zinc coated!
